In early February every year we join with a variety of federal, state and county agencies and non-profits to sponsor the regional high school Envirothon competition on environmental science topics. Winning team goes on to state level. 2020 Envirothon included teams from Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto Counties at Oscar Scherer State Park.
Leaders from Emergency Services help SSWCD help you in disaster preparedness, state environmentalists report to us on new grants and services, and private industry professionals alert us to new developments to combat Red Tide and Blue-green Algae.
We seek productive relationships with local, state and federal government officials and agencies, and we support the work of area non-profits that enhance our mission.
We especially value contact with our schools and universities and learn from our young participants.
